Cold weather can harm a person’s mental and physical health. If you are an active person in the past, it is recommended that you remain active. Here are some winter workouts which will motivate you to remain active and beat the chills.
Warm-up
It is not necessary that it would be winter season for doing warm-ups. They are very important before doing exercises regardless of the weather. The reason behind this is that it can decrease the risk of injuries during workouts by increasing muscle core temperature and blood flow. Performing some warm-up activities before going out will make you won’t feel as cold as it is.
Indoor Hills
To perform this exercise, warm up for 10 minutes, then set the treadmill’s slope at its highest setting available. Do Indoor Hills for 1 minute, then give your rest to your body for 1 minute. This exercise could be done for at least 15 minutes, starting with 2 minutes at the maximum for both inclined and declined positions.
Brisk Walking
This is a form of walking of which many people are unaware. Walking with a fast pace of at least 100 steps per minute or 7km/hr to 9km/hr is considered brisk walking. It will provide an energetic start to your day. It also strengthens muscles and joints, enhances metabolism, regulates hormones, help maintains healthy body weight, and improves mental and overall health.
Fartlek Training
Considered one of the best exercises to keep the cold away from you. Start it by jogging steadily for 15 minutes, take a rest of one minute, and then perform another 8 sets of 2 minutes each with an average effort. Then, with 90 percent effort, perform another 8 repetitions having a duration of 1 minute, following a recovery of 2 minutes.
Indoor Stretching
If you do some stretching indoors, before going out to do exercise, it will increase your body temperature. Due to this, you will feel less cold outside. It also enhances blood flow toward your joints and muscles. There are chances of injury during performing many exercises like butt kicks, jumping jacks, and leg rotation, etc., indoor stretching reduces the risk of injury while doing these exercises.
