Hrithik Roshan’s most recent film was Vikram Vedha, in which he co-starred with Saif Ali Khan. Vikram Vedha, directed by Pushkar-Gayatri, is a Hindi version of the filmmakers’ 2017 successful Tamil film of the same name. R Madhavan and Vijay Sethupathi starred in the original. While the Tamil version was a box office success, the Hindi version did not do as well.
“Every time there’s a Vedha, Super 30 life really gets extremely easy because all you have to do is your work as an actor,” Hrithik said in a recent interview to Galatta Plus. When you do films like Bang Bang, War, or Fighter, you carry the whole weight of a celebrity And you have to get the aesthetics perfect, all the expectations, look at things in a specific way, and it can really drain you. That is a really challenging task. Doing a film like Super 30, Kaabil is a delight for me because all I have to focus on is being genuine, feeling my lines, and all the other things that come with the profession of an actor. But taking on the role of a celebrity is simply detrimental in many respects.”
When questioned about the work of a star, he distinguished between the roles of actor and star.”It gives me such a pleasant, snug, confident, fulfilled feeling inside when someone refers to me as an actor, a good actor, or talks about me as the actor that I am. I am at ease. This is not true for everyone; it merely demonstrates that being an actor helps me to be more calm, comfortable, and myself. The weight is carried by the star. Don’t get me wrong: I’m thankful for it, and it’s something I cherish.
I know it was given to me as a gift, but it has become a burden for me. And I have to put in a lot of effort to succeed. I don’t want to just survive; I want to flourish, but it’s a process. When there are no expectations, I feel very, very calm as an actor.”
Hrithik will next be seen in the forthcoming action film Fighter. Siddharth Anand directs his debut film with Deepika Padukone. Anil Kapoor is also in it.
